The man accused of gunning down another man in the Vancouver Mall on Halloween and injuring two others was there to trick or treat with his girlfriend’s young daughter, and the person who died was also celebrating the holiday at the mall with his own children, authorities said Monday.

Travis L. Ward is accused of donning a “Joker” mask, following 26-year-old James Perez in the mall’s food court area and shooting Perez in the back of the head at “point-blank range,” according to court records.
